Lower right monogrammed "V" and dated, signed in the image. Verso of the canvas with the hand-written address (presumably of the widow Dora Meyer-Vax, Nuremberg) and the note "Unverkäuflich" (not for sale). 140 x 76 cm (55.1 x 29.9 in).
The Neue Münchner Galerie Dr. Hiepe & Co. GmbH administrated the estate of Dore Meyer-Vax, the artist's wife.
• In January 1930 the artist submitted this and 4 other works for the Grand State Prize of the Prussian Art Academy and won first place for his painting "Hochzeitspaar beim Fotograf".
• Meyer-Vax was a student of Carl Hofer at the Berlin Academie
• Hardly any works by Walter Meyer-Vax, who fell in Stalingrad in 1942, have been preserved.
