Large folio.Brand/Evers 597. - Not in Kunstbibl. Lindenau. - Very rare work with archeological plates, with extremely decorative and detailed lithographs in colors on Greek ceramics. Showing, among others, numerous amphorae, vases, bowls as well as several other containers and decorative jars. The large-sized, neatly executed graphics were made in the studio Hein & Mosler in Berlin; size of sheet ca. 68 : 46 cm. The lavishly made publication is the main work of the artist Albert Genick (1837-1906), a learned architect from Berlin, later in Rome he became one of the leading heads in the field of graphic representations of ancient ceramics. This series of plates is complete with all 36 lithographs in colors, among them 4 in a double-page size ; it is extremely rare, only single plates from this series occasionally appear in commerce. - Additionally, a text by A. Furtwängler (not at hand) was published. His fundamental writing Meisterwerke der griechischen Plastik was released in 1893. - With stains and waterstains in places as well as with few marginal blemishes. However, the lithographed illustrations are unaffected and clean.
