Passionarium Toletanum
[Passionarium Toletanum, correctum jussu D. F. Francisci Ximenenes de Cisneros, cardinalis Hispaniae].

"From 1515 until 1519 Brocar was engaged in fulfilling another longstanding ambition of the cardinal's - the provision of a complete collection of the liturgy of his cathedral at Toledo. Five of the six works contributed by Brocar were stately choir-books, on rivalled as examples of Spanish music printing by some of the work of Coci at Saragossa" (Norton).

LITERATUR: Abad I, 47. - Norton S. 42 und 188. - Burger S. 10. - Palau 214433. - BM STC, Spanish Books S. 51. - Van Praet IV (Suppl), 115. - Nicht im RISM.

Extremely scarce early Spanish music printing on vellum by the famous printer A. G. de Brocar. No copy in international price records, according to Abad only 6 copies in public libraries (partly incomplete). With black square notes on red lines, 6 fig. woodcut initials, numerous cadels with drolerie and lombards in red or black. New blindtooled calf in contemp. style. 53 nn. leaves (of 72). Lacking title (replaced by hand on vellum), last leaf with colophon and 17 lvs. passim. - Partly minor staining, else well-preserved.
