Wöbkemeier 460. Twice signed and dated in right below the image. Verso signed, dated and titled. On smooth creme board. 65 x 50 cm (25.5 x 19.6 in), size of sheet.
In 1966/67 Walter Dexel was once more occupied with this very composition, which led to the painting "Bandwerk Schwarz mit Rot" (Wöbkemeier 473, oil on canvas). [CH].

• In 1974 part of the comprehensive exhibition at Kestner-Gesellschaft, Hanover.
• After he had been defamed by the Nazis in the 1930s and a thirteen year long occupation ban, Dexel had his artistic comeback not before the 1960s.
• His urge to create art soon won over his theoretic research efforts on the history of the form
.
