Irmgard and Alfred Neuman were friends of Marc Chagall formore than 25 years, they lived in his neighborhood in Saint-Paul-de-Vence. Over thge years, Marc Chagall gave them numerous books with artistically made personal dedications.

Accompanied by a photo expertise from Jean-Louis Prat, Comité Marc Chagall, Paris, dated 5 February 2010.

PROVENANCE: Collection Irmgard and Alfred Neuman.

Marc Chagall would always happily fulfill the wish for a complimentary drawing. All those drawings still around are proof thereof. In almost every case he used color pens to make these little gifts. For the amicable illustrations in strong colors, Chagall drew on his ressources of familiar subjects. [KD].
